Bonpo
Bonpo is an installation, text and audio work by artist Helen Marshall, as part of Stream's Imagine East Greenwich programme, in collaboration with older housebound residents in the Greenwich.
The artist engaged participants in conversation over several months, recording all the conversations that took place in their homes. These were written verbatim into an un-abbreviated transcript and arranged into an audio work to create a constant stream of consciousness and chronological loss of time.
The title 'Bonpo' comes from one of the participant's accounts of his experience as a Buddhist monk in the 1940’s. Bonpo, means "glorious".
