Soundwave
The Soundwave group have been creating a wave of recorded interviews, impressions and conversations about the experience of being an older person in East Greenwich today.
With artists Tim Sutton and Tony McTurk, the group recorded a series of walks along Trafalgar Road and the Thames Path, involving other members of the community, and carrying out interviews in a number of settings including the local hairdressers, Bavardez Hair.
They were invited to a tea party at Christchurch School, where they talked with Year 6 pupils about East Greenwich then and now, and the event was featured in the Greenwich Time newspaper.
Members of the group have also photographed East Greenwich, capturing people and places that are important to them, and learning new digital photography skills.
The material gathered was made into a CD and four booklets, and was launched at a special event at Bavardez Hair on 17 August.
Soundwave is part of Stream's Peninsula strand of projects, and is one of the Voices projects in that strand.
